MATERIALS USED

High quality materials produce luxury furniture

OAK

Compared to other wood species, oak is quite dense, making it strong, heavy and durable. Oak is also remarkably water, insect and fungi resistant.Oak wood is exceedingly strong, heavy and durable. It is an attractive light colour with a prominent grain and is resistant to fungal attack, thanks to its dense constitution and long-living nature, which must equip the tree for its long lifetime.
Oak is one of the most popular woods used in furniture and flooring in the US. It’s often found in traditional, craftsman, and mission style furniture and is the wood of choice for the Amish, as well as famed furniture designers Gustav Stickley and Frank Lloyd Wright. Oak is highly durable, easy to work with, and looks great stained or with a clear, natural finish. It’s also one of the most efficient woods to burn due to the high BTU content.
Oak wood comes in a number of hues, but its grain pattern is quite unique, which makes it one of the easier species to recognize. It has a long history of use around the home dating back to pre-colonial times and remains every bit as popular today. While this makes it a mainstay in traditional design, its versatility means that it can also make a modern piece come to life.

SIBERIAN LARCH

There are many types of larch, each belonging to the Larix genus. Siberian Larch (or Russian Larch) is known scientifically as Larix sibirica.
This particular species grows natively as far west as the Finnish border, with distribution eastwards towards central Siberia in Russia — hence the name! The species has also been introduced to Canada, the US, Iceland and Greenland.
Siberian Larch is a ‘frost-hardy’ tree; it’s capable of surviving in freezing, adverse temperatures. When fully grown, it reaches heights between 20 and 50m and has needle-like leaves, with a 1m trunk diameter. As a result of its extreme native climate, Siberian Larch grows extremely slowly. Interestingly, however, these inhospitable growing conditions imbue the timber with many useful and practical properties, suiting it to many purposes — particularly exterior projects.

BIRCH

Birch wood has some exceptional qualities with a great amount of strength which makes it perfect for any furniture. Birch is a smart choice for solid hardwood furniture. Furniture made of Birch wood is highly durable because of its great strength and can last long more than our lifetime easily with proper care.Other Common Names: Gray Birch, Silver Birch and Swamp Birch Birch is one of the most popular hardwoods for veneer and interior work. It tends to be a light reddish brown, with nearly white sapwood.Going back to the 1960s and 1970s, birch wood was used quite a bit in home furnishings and cabinetry. Nowadays, it’s largely used for utilitarian purposes like shelving, crates, and plywood. Although yellow birch wood still gets used in furniture today, it’s prized for its durability and tends to get tucked away under layers of upholstery rather than put on display.

NAPPA (NAPA) LEATHER

Napa leather is typically a full-grain, unsplit leather made from lamb, kid, or sheepskin. Full-grain means that the skin surface has not been modified.Napa leather was conceived in 1875 by Emanuel Manasse while he worked for the Sawyer Tanning Company in Napa, California. It is a leather that is typically dyed and is made from kid, cow, calf, lamb or other skin by a distinctive tanning process.Another distinction of this type of leather is that it is typically dyed in water-soluble colorants so that it is more resistant to fading. This dyeing process also renders napa leather a lot easier to clean. As a chrome-tanned leather, napa leather is particularly soft and smooth. The natural characteristics of the animal skin are visible as they have not been obscured by paints and coatings. napa leather is extremely sensitive to dirt, not to mention bleaching out caused by sunlight. This is because the pores are not sealed.
There is also slightly-pigmented napa leather which is dyed with water-soluble colorants. This makes the material more invulnerable to light and abrasion. More importantly, the surface of slightly-pigmented Napa leather appears to be more even or smoother.
